Description: Call for Proposal We are delighted to announce the forthcoming International Conference on Social Science, a platform designed to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge dissemination in the ever-evolving landscape of social sciences. This seminar will be held in Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka during 18-19 January 2025 which will be organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences of Jahangirnagar University. The Theme of the Seminar State, Society and Development of Bangladesh: Challenges and Opportunities. The multifaceted domains of social science provide as a testing ground for innovative research and critical thought aimed at decoding the the complexities of our contemporary global landscape. Therefore, we are inviting scholars, researchers, scientists, and other academics to submit their extendeded abstracts and posters for presentation. Individual or Panel proposals are welcome on any discourse, debate and reflections that resonate with the theme of the seminar. Our intention is to transcend the conventional boundaries, fostering collaboration among diverse disciplines to construct a comprehensive understanding of the intricate problems that our world is currently facing today. We invite you to submit your abstracts and papers on a wide array of topics encompassing but not limited to: Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Development: This sub-theme will explore the economic dynamics of Bangladesh, analyzing factors influencing growth, inequality, and poverty alleviation. It delves into macroeconomic policies, trade relations, and sectoral developments. Papers may discuss fiscal and monetary policies, industrialization strategies, and the role of international organizations in shaping economic agendas, exploring the intersection of economic policies, inclusive growth, and sustainable development initiatives in Bangladesh. Cultural Dynamics and Social Change: Focusing on cultural anthropology, this sub-theme will examine how societal norms, beliefs, and traditions shape development processes in Bangladesh. Papers may explore cultural practices, rituals, and social structures impacting various aspects of development, including gender equality, social justice, and community resilience. Inclusive Urban/Spatial Planning: Addressing the complexities of urbanization, spatial planning, and infrastructural development to foster livable cities and equitable urban growth. This sub-theme will investigate the transport and mobility, public services and utilities, public spaces and community development. It addresses urban planning challenges, such as housing affordability, role of infrastructure investment in fostering economic growth, and environmental sustainability. Papers may explore innovative planning approaches, urban governance mechanisms, and strategies for inclusive urban development. Geospatial Analysis for Development: Utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis techniques to inform evidence-based decision-making and development planning processes. This sub-theme will examine the geographical dimensions of development in Bangladesh, including spatial inequalities, environmental degradation, and natural resource management. Papers may address issues such as climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and spatial planning strategies to promote sustainable development across different regions. Governance and Policy: Assessing the role of government, community engagement, and participatory approaches in fostering inclusive development and effective governance. this sub-theme will explore the dynamics of decentralization, citizen participation, and community empowerment in Bangladesh. Papers may discuss local governance structures, institutional capacities, and grassroots initiatives aimed at improving service delivery, social accountability, and democratic governance, administrative capacity-building efforts, and the role of technology in enhancing governance effectiveness.
